Caring for Your Precious Jewellery: A Comprehensive Guide
We understand that your cherished jewellery pieces are not only exquisite adornments but also valuable investments that hold sentimental value.
To ensure the lasting beauty and brilliance of your Hafeez jewellery, proper care and attention are essential.
Here, we provide you with a comprehensive guide on how to care for 18k Gold and different types of gemstones.
PLAIN 18K GOLD JEWELLERY CARE
1. Clean with a mild soapy solution and a soft brush, then rinse with lukewarm water and pat dry. 2. Use a gold polishing cloth to restore shine. 3. Remove before physical activities and exposure to chemicals. 4. Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, makeup, and lotions. 5. Store each piece separately to prevent tangling and scratching. 6. Keep away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. 7. Regularly inspect for wear or damage and address issues promptly. 8. Consider professional cleanings for thorough maintenance.
PEARL JEWELLERY CARE
1. Wipe with a soft, damp cloth after wearing to remove oils and dirt. 2. Avoid exposure to chemicals, perfumes, and hairspray. 3. Store away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. 4. Store separately in a soft pouch to prevent scratches. 5. Keep pearls in a cool, dry place to preserve their luster. 6. Before storing your Pearl jewellery, wipe it gently with a soft cloth. 7. Enjoy your pearl jewellery frequently as leaving it in a box for long periods may cause pearls to dehydrate. 8. Pearl rings are only to be worn for occasions as the nacre of the pearl and its setting may be compromised.
GEMSTONE JEWELLERY CARE
1. Clean with a mixture of lukewarm water and mild detergent, using a very soft brush, then rinse and air-dry or clean with a soft dry cloth. 2. Jewellery containing Emeralds, Pearls, Lapis Lazuli, Turquoises, Tourmalines, Topazes, Citrines, Amazonites, and Peridots cannot undergo ultrasonic cleaning. 3. Inspect prongs regularly. 4. Avoid exposure to harsh chemicals, chlorine, and abrasive materials. 5. Remove before physical activities, exposure to chemicals, and sudden extreme temperature changes. 6. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.
GENERAL GUIDELINES
• Jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Wear your jewellery after getting dressed (including make-up, hair, and perfume) and remove it before getting undressed and starting your beauty routine. • Remove your jewellery before going to sleep, practicing any sport, washing your hands, or using corrosive products. Avoid contact with fragrance, alcohol, cosmetics, ammonia, chlorine, and keep your pieces away from intense sources of heat and extreme temperature changes. • Prevent damage or loss of your jewels by storing them individually in their original box or pouch after wearing them; contact with other jewellery pieces could cause scratches. Chains should be closed and laid flat to avoid them becoming tangled; if they do, please contact us for assistance. When carrying jewellery, use a protective jewellery pouch. • If your jewellery suffers a shock or hit, the stone setting may need to be checked. Avoid forcing clasps, joints, and metal frames, and be sure to check that the clasp and safety latch close properly. If you have any concerns, you should not wear your jewel until you have had it checked by one of our experts. In the meantime, you can check it yourself either by: 1. shaking the piece of jewellery close to your ear: if you hear a slight noise, this means that the stones are no longer perfectly secured; or, 2. by rubbing the piece of jewellery against a thin cloth: if the cloth catches, this means that the prongs have moved. • Keep your jewellery away from intense sources of heat and extreme temperature changes as this shock could permanently damage delicate stones. • Earring backs should be put on gently as forcing them onto the post may result in it becoming stuck, weakened, or bent. Flexible hoop earrings should also be put on gently to avoid permanent damage. • Any rings with delicate designs, moving pieces, or gems all around should be worn on occasion and with due care. Avoid impact, heavy lifting, or repetitive metal-to-metal contact to maintain the longevity of your jewel and reduce the frequency of servicing.
By following these guidelines, you'll be able to preserve the beauty and value of your cherished jewellery pieces for generations to come.
Remember that each gemstone and metal requires unique care, so refer back to this guide whenever you need assistance.
